The Douglas County Youth Initiative is on the hunt for exceptional teens who have made remarkable strides in overcoming adversity and impacting those around them. The 2025 Douglas County Outstanding Youth Awards is currently accepting nominations to honor such individuals.

Know a noteworthy teen, ranging from 13 to 19 years old, who stands out? This could be an opportunity for them to be acknowledged for their inspiring transformations and contributions. Ten teens will have the chance to celebrate their achievements at an event on April 28, which starts at 6 p.m., hosted at the Douglas County Commissioners Hearing Room in Castle Rock. It's a unique recognition that celebrates the diverse paths of our youth, be it in regular schools, group homes, alternative educational programs, or foster care, no one is left behind, as detailed by Douglas County.

Selected teens will receive not only a signed letter of recognition from elected officials, but also a $300 gift card and the honor of county-wide recognition. Nominees and their adult advocates will find themselves in the spotlight at the ceremony where they'll get to share their stories and the challenges they've overcome.

Award winners are slated to be in the company of family, supporters, and government representatives. Each story presented will paint a picture of the resilience and positive influence these teens have exerted within their circles and beyond. If you're interested in nominating a young individual, details and the online nomination form are available on the Douglas County website, with a deadline of March 4.
