The Pembroke Pines Police Department is intensifying its efforts to locate a suspect identified in a fatal shooting that occurred last October. Police have named Kevonte Irons, a 25-year-old man, as a suspect in the case involving a shooting that led to the death of a man inside a Nissan Altima. According to Local 10 News, Irons is sought in connection to the October 26, 2024 incident along Sheridan Street near Northwest 118th Avenue.
Investigators believe that the incident may have stemmed from a reckless driving encounter, during which shots were fired, striking the victim who was later pronounced dead despite medical intervention. The Pembroke Pines Police have described Irons as a 6-foot-1 Black male, weighing 160 pounds, and is known to frequent Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Calvin Brownlee, 23, of Miramar, identified by police as a second suspect, has already been detained and is facing first-degree murder charges, WSVN reports.
The department is seeking assistance from the public to help track down Irons. They encourage anyone with information to come forward and help in the ongoing investigation. "Anyone with information on Irons’ whereabouts is urged to contact Pembroke Pines police," urged Detective Christopher Komp in a statement Local 10 News, recognizing the significance of community involvement in such cases. The direct line for contact is 954-743-1734 or the main number 954-431-2200. An anonymous tip Newscan also be submitted through Broward Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS, as noted in the investigation's media release shared on the Pembroke Pines Police Instagram page.
As authorities investigate the fatal October night, they are seeking public help to uncover connections that could reveal Irons' whereabouts. Detectives are carefully asking the public for information to aid the investigation.
