Attention Baton Rouge drivers: The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced partial road closures on I-10 and I-12 for bridge work. Starting Wednesday, the right lane on I-12 East from the I-10/I-12 Split to Essen Lane will be closed from 9 PM to 5 AM, continuing through Sunday, March 9. Expect delays, so plan ahead or consider taking an alternate route, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has released new details about lane closures. On Wednesday the right lane will be closed until 5 AM, and both right lanes will be closed starting at 10 PM, likely causing traffic delays. Over the weekend, March 7 and 8, closures will start at the same time but last until 8 AM. These closures depend on weather, so check the forecast for any changes.
Beyond these closures, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development also specifies that I-10 WB will see right lane closures from the I-10/I-12 Merge to College Drive, kicking off on Wednesday at 9 PM and wrapping up at 5 AM. Bridge construction is a necessary inconvenience to maintain our infrastructure, but it's still going to make for some grumpy drivers in the Baton Rouge area this week.
TIn addition to the lane closures, the I-10 West College Dr. exit will also be closed during these hours. Drivers should detour to Acadian Thruway. These closures are part of ongoing infrastructure work across the state. Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has expressed gratitude for the public's patience and reminds everyone to "please drive with caution through the work zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment."
