A Mexican national is now facing federal drug charges following an indictment from a Salt Lake City grand jury, as recently reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Utah, Juana Gabriela Sancion Castaneda, 41, resident of Salt Lake County, was accused of drug distribution after the Wasatch Metro Drug Task Force executed a search warrant in February and found substantial quantities of narcotics.
The FBI Wasatch Metro Drug Task Force initiated the investigation into Castaneda's activities in January leading to her arrest last month, during the raid at her residence law enforcement recovered nearly two pounds of fentanyl and close to one and three-quarter pounds of heroin, the fentanyl alone constituted approximately 8,000 pills according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Castaneda has been charged with possession of fentanyl and heroin both with intent to distribute, and she is scheduled for her initial court appearance on March 10, as noted by Acting U.S. Attorney Felice John Viti for the District of Utah, The ongoing case gets handled by the same task force that carried out the investigation, which includes members from the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office and the Davis Metro Narcotic Strike Force.
