Drivers in Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, and St. James Parishes should brace for some disruptions starting next week. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that construction will commence on State Projects 4400031076, requiring alternating lane closures on LA 20 between Guidry St and LA 307. This work is set to manage tree trimming and removal along various state route right of ways, aiming to maintain road safety and clearance.
The closures will last from Monday, April 21 through Friday, April 25, 2025, with daily operations running from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. To make sure traffic keeps somewhat flowing, flaggers will be on site to direct drivers through the work zone. Commuters are advised to expect delays during these times. DOTD has promised that one lane will be maintained open at all times for vehicles to pass.
While necessary, these tree trimming activities may cause inconvenience to local traffic. DOTD has stressed that these closures are subject to adjustments owing to adverse weather conditions—so motorists are advised to keep an eye out for any updates.
Appreciating the public's patience, DOTD reminds everyone to "please drive with caution through work zones and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment," according to a statement posted on their website. For those seeking more information or have concerns about the upcoming work, they can directly reach out to Ryan White by calling (225) 675-5320.
