For drivers in Destrehan and surrounding areas, it's necessary to brace for minor delays and detours as road construction and maintenance work take precedence this week. According to St. Charles Parish government announcements, Ormond Center Court is currently closed from Rotolo's Pizza at 150 Ormond Center Court to Buddy's Frostop at 3001 Ormond Blvd. To accommodate local traffic, a detour has been established, allowing vehicles to bypass the construction hassle.
But the construction activity isn't just confined to the local streets; state roads are also receiving touch-ups. Northbound and southbound LA 633 (Magnolia Ridge Rd) is undergoing an alternating lane closure for much-needed roadwork. The vital stretch of road began facing partial closure yesterday, April 14, and will continue to experience disruptions through Thursday, April 17. The specific lanes affected include both left and right lanes, making for potentially slower commutes and more time spent on the road for local drivers.
The state road closures, detailed on the aforementioned government site, carry the reminder that all of this is, naturally, weather permitting. The specifics of the work involve more than just tinkering with the surface; it's a full gamut, from asphalt patching and striping to the installation of mailboxes, along with seeding and fertilization. The start and end cross streets affected are Maple St and US 90, respectively, framing the scope of this necessary, if inconvenient, infrastructure upkeep.
Commuters on this route may want to leave earlier or find another way. The closures will happen daily from 6 AM to 9 PM, starting April 14 through April 18. While the delays might be frustrating, the end result will be safer, smoother roads.
