Lehi residents and commuters faced a maze of delays and detours on Friday morning after a cement truck was involved in a multi-vehicle collision. The incident, which occurred around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Pioneer Crossing and Mill Pond Road near I-15, led to the temporary shutdown of several roads, as obtained by KUTV from the Lehi Police Department.
The congestion was compounded as both southbound lanes of Old Mill Pond Road, or 850 East, along with several westbound lanes on Pioneer Crossing and the left-turn lane onto Mill Pond Road were closed. In an effort to quickly reestablish a semblance of the everyday flow, motorists were asked to avoid the area temporarily following the crash. Information about the closures and the subsequent investigation were provided by KSL.
Despite the inconvenience and potential hazards following the collision, no injuries have been reported as of yet. The clear-up operations were swift, and by late afternoon, affected roadways had begun to reopen. The Lehi authorities worked diligently to not only clear the debris but also to ensure the safety of drivers in the vicinity.
Local news sources played a significant role in alerting the public to the current state of the roads. According to FOX 13, the expected time for complete road reopening was 4:20 p.m., allowing for the hurried yet thorough investigation by the crews on site. The seamless coordination between various departments helped to promptly rectify the traffic disruptions, with the scene being safely cleared and no significant injuries to lament.
