A Nashville Metro Police Department officer has been arrested on charges of aggravated assault against his teenage daughter during a domestic dispute. The officer, identified as 42-year-old Amgad Bekhit, was charged following an argument that became physical in their family home.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the altercation stemmed from Bekhit's disapproval of his daughter's romantic involvement with a teenage boy. Striking her and attempting to choke her with one hand for a few seconds, his daughter alleged that her father's aggression left visible marks on her face, neck, and hands. After the responding officers observed the injuries, she was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
A judicial commissioner set Bekhit’s bond at $10,000. Following the incident, he was decommissioned and is now the subject of an administrative investigation by the Office of Professional Accountability. He has worked for the police department for four years and was assigned to MDHA (public housing) support before his arrest this morning.
