
A federal indictment has been issued for Evar Mahmood Hashim, a 25-year-old man from West Jordan, Utah, who is facing allegations of trafficking a significant quantity of cocaine, according to authorities. The legal documents reveal that over 4,800 grams of a substance testing positive for cocaine were confiscated by federal agents, as noted by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Following an investigation led by the Davis County Metro Narcotics Strike Force in May 2025, Hashim became a suspect in a drug trafficking operation, leading to his arrest on June 10, after a search warrant was executed on a vehicle in Juab County - with Hashim behind the wheel, agents located approximately 4,836 grams of cocaine, which promptly landed him in custody and now, Hashim is set for an initial court appearance on the indictment today at 2:00 p.m., Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti announced the case details which forms a part of a wider initiative named Operation Take Back America, aiming to thwart illegal immigration, dismantle cartels, and combat transnational crime.
The charges brought against Hashim include possession with intent to distribute, and he is expected to appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse, downtown Salt Lake City. His initial hearing marks a key moment in a broader national effort epitomized by the Department of Justice's Operation Take Back America. This initiative pools resources in a bid to counter the flow of illegal drugs, safeguard communities, and neutralize the reach of cartels and criminal organizations.
The multi-agency crackdown implicating Hashim underscores the unceasing vigilance required to stem the tide of narcotics on American streets, with this particular case being spearheaded by the Davis County Metro Narcotics Strike Force in collaboration with the DEA.
