As Summer wanes, families are gearing up for the return to school, and this year, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is teaming up with local organizations to lessen the load on students' shoulders, quite literally. They've announced a series of events where parents and students can pick up free backpacks and school supplies.
In an effort to provide support where it's most needed, IMPD is backing several events today, a move lauded by those aiming to see every child enter the school year on an equal footing. According to a social media post made by IMPD News, the giveaways are set to take place across various venues in Indianapolis.
Those looking to benefit from the program can head to the Indianapolis Urban League from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, where supplies will be distributed at 777 Indiana Avenue, 46202. Westminster Neighborhood Services will also serve as a hub from 10 am to 2 pm, located at 2325 E New York St. Not far behind, Whole Man Ministries will open their doors from 11 am to 2 pm at 1241 E 54th St.
