A tragic incident unfolded last Monday night when a single-vehicle crash resulted in the death of a Pitkin man. According to a report released by the Louisiana State Police Troop E, the accident occurred along Louisiana Highway 463 near Moore Road around 9:00 p.m. The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Brian Perkins.
The initial investigation into the accident revealed some details. Driving northbound, Perkins's 2017 Ford F-250 failed to negotiate a left-hand curve for reasons that investigators are still attempting to unearth. The truck subsequently veered off the road, struck a ditch embankment, after which it overturned, leading to Perkins's death. The usage of restraints by Perkins at the time of the crash is currently not known.
Authorities pronounced Perkins dead at the scene, where he sustained fatal injuries. In line with procedure, routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis to further understand the circumstances of the crash.
