A 19-year-old man is recovering in the hospital after a shooting incident in St. George, with the suspect, also 19, now in custody, police officials confirmed. The St. George Police Department responded to a 911 call at about 2:10 p.m. Sunday concerning a shooting near 1100 N. Bluff, where they discovered the injured teenager, who received initial treatment before being rushed to a local hospital for further care, as reported by KUTV.
Following the incident, the victim was able to name Jesus Rafael Salcido Felix as the assailant before he underwent surgery. Felix was apprehended after his girlfriend cooperated with authorities to facilitate his surrender at an apartment complex, KSL disclosed. According to the police affidavit, the confrontation leading up to the shooting transpired after Salcido, with his girlfriend and child in tow, crossed paths with the victim and his girlfriend at a Panda Express, where tensions quickly escalated.
Salcido is now facing serious charges, which include felony discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and he is currently being held without bail; these developments in the case were relayed by FOX13.
