Heads up, commuters and residents in the vicinity of Ridgewood Drive: a significant road closure is about to make your daily travel a bit more complicated. According to an alert from the Jefferson Parish website, a stretch of Ridgewood Drive will be completely off-limits to traffic starting from 8 a.m. on Monday, August 4, and continuing until 5 p.m. on October 30. The said closure will affect the area between Palm Street and Colapissa Street, necessitating some detour strategies for those who frequent this route.
The closure is set in place to allow for the reconstruction of the existing concrete roadway, an essential overhaul aimed at maintaining and improving the infrastructure. During this period, adjustments will be needed for motorists—those intending to reach Stroelitz Street from Airline Highway will be directed to take North Labarre Road, then to E Manley Avenue and finally to Loumor Avenue, creating a detour that while inconvenient, serves a purpose of longevity. Similarly, drivers heading south on Hollywood Drive will find their path rerouted to Loumor Avenue at Stroelitz Street, towards E Manley Avenue and proceeding to Airline Highway via North Labarre Road, as detailed by the Jefferson Parish.
