Residents of LaPlace can breathe a little easier today as the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office (SJSO) has successfully apprehended a suspect in a recent armed robbery case. After a brief manhunt, Harry Reid III was taken into custody by detectives. The case in question involved an armed robbery that took place on November 20 and prompted a search that has since concluded with Reid's arrest.
According to a statement released by the SJSO on their social media page, Sheriff Mike Tregre extended his thanks to the public, whose assistance played a critical role in resolving the manhunt. "Sheriff Mike Tregre would like to thank the public for their assistance," the post read, demonstrating the value that community cooperation holds in police work.
Though the details of Reid's alleged involvement in the armed robbery are still under wraps, the fact that he is now in custody means the investigation can proceed to the next phase. The SJSO has yet to release any further statements regarding the charges Harry Reid III will face, or the circumstances of his arrest.
