
A two-vehicle crash on Friday last week resulted in the death of a 78-year-old Westpoint, Indiana man, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. Kenneth Miller was involved in the collision around 2 p.m. on State Road 29 at the U.S. 24 ramp near the Tyson Exchange.
Authorities stated Miller was driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue westbound on the ramp when his vehicle crossed into the path of a southbound 2020 Ford Transit van. The crash caused significant damage to both vehicles. FOX59 reported that Miller died at the scene before he could be airlifted to Fort Wayne for medical treatment.
The driver of the Ford Transit, identified as 39-year-old Agustin Diaz Santana of Illinois, declined medical treatment at the scene, according to WTHR.
The roadway was partially closed for approximately 90 minutes to allow for investigation and cleanup. Deputies are continuing to investigate the crash, and Country Herald reported that anyone with information is asked to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at (574) 753-7800. The Cass County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the investigation.
