
A fatal incident occurred this morning in West Jordan where a man, believed to be in his mid-50s, was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing the street. KSL Newsradio reported that the accident took place near 9400 South and Redwood Road.
The West Jordan Police Department responded to a call just after 6:45 a.m. about the auto-pedestrian collision. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim who had not been using a crosswalk at the time he was hit. Despite being immediately transported to a hospital, the man later succumbed to his injuries. The exact identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of kin, as ABC4 stated that the individual's name and gender are unknown currently.
The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and is reportedly cooperating with the investigation. No further details regarding the driver's identity or potential charges have been disclosed at this time.
West Jordan Police have since temporarily closed the area from 9150 South to 9300 South along Redwood Road to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, according to information from KUTV. This closure is expected to remain until further notice as authorities work to piece together the events that unfolded and to possibly prevent accidents from happening carelessly in the future.
