The Antioch Police Department has identified a suspect in the recent shooting of an 11-year-old girl. The girl, who was accidentally struck by gunfire while sitting in her family's car, is now in stable condition at Children's Hospital Oakland. According to a press release from the Antioch Police Department, the suspect, Ryan Hardy, is at large and should be considered armed and dangerous. The police have warned the public against confronting him and ask anyone with information about Hardy's whereabouts to contact 911 immediately.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday, and the girl was hit in the head by a bullet in her family's vehicle as they were about to leave the parking lot of an apartment complex at 3915 Delta Fair Boulevard. Following the shooting, the family drove to a nearby shopping center to seek help, which facilitated a faster emergency response. According to Hoodline’s report, the Antioch Police believe that the family was not the intended target of the shooting.
In efforts to apprehend Ryan Hardy, the Antioch Police have also identified several individuals who have assisted him in evading capture. These individuals, along with anyone who might aid Hardy henceforth, could face charges for accessory under Penal Code section 32. Anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to contact Antioch Police Detective John Cox at (925) 481-8147 or via email at [email protected].
