The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will begin a $4.16 million roadway improvement project on US 61 in Jefferson Parish, from David Drive to Causeway Boulevard, starting Monday next week, with completion expected by June, weather permitting.
According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, daytime work will include construction of curb ramps, sidewalks, and curb and gutter, while nighttime work will focus on asphalt patching, milling, and overlay. Lane closures will occur during the project, with single lane closures on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Double lane closures will occur from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with extended hours on weekends.
Weekend closures will run from 7:00 p.m. Friday to 6:00 a.m. Monday for single lanes, and 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. for double lanes. Concrete pours will be scheduled in advance. DOTD advises travelers to allow extra time, and emergency vehicles will maintain access through the construction zones.
