Fort Wayne officials say police responded Feb. 12 after a driver was seen driving recklessly near South Clinton and East Superior streets, nearly causing crashes and running a red light.

According to the City of Fortwayne, Police say 26-year-old Billy Ray Guerrero tried to flee during the stop, leading officers on a chase along Wells Street. His vehicle hit light poles and another car before he eventually pulled over and surrendered.

Officers said Guerrero showed signs of intoxication and was taken for a certified chemical test, which confirmed impairment. He was later booked into the Allen County Jail on multiple charges.

Guerrero faces a Level 6 felony count of resisting law enforcement in a vehicle, a Level 6 OWI charge due to a prior conviction, and a misdemeanor charge for leaving the scene of a property-damage crash.
