
Jefferson Parish residents seeking help with energy bills can attend upcoming Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) outreach meetings hosted by JeffCAP. The first session will be on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the J.C. Simmons Community Center, 4008 US Highway 90 in Avondale. The second session is Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jesse Owens Playground, 11101 Newton Street in River Ridge, as per the Jefferson Parish's Facebook post.
Applicants must bring documents to verify identity, residency, and income. Required identification includes a Louisiana driver’s license, state ID, or passport for all household members over 18, along with Social Security cards for everyone in the household. Proof of income may include pay stubs, W-2s, tax returns, unemployment or veterans benefits, and other financial records. Additional documents, such as bank statements, pension information, or Section 8 paperwork, may also be required depending on the household. A Zero Income Form is needed for any household member over 18 without income.
