Westfield Police Department in Indiana is making strides with the construction of its new $35 million headquarters, aiming to cater to the burgeoning local population. As stated by the Westfield Police Department on social media, the state-of-the-art facility will occupy an 11.7-acre site on Grand Park Boulevard, a decision driven by the inadequacy of the old Westfield Public Safety building in meeting modern-day policing needs.
The current public safety building, positioned at State Road 32 and Dartown Road, is a relic that hasn't kept pace with post-9/11 standards to such an extent that the estimated $30 million bill for renovations still wouldn't suffice the department's operational demands, this prompted the city leadership's move to construct a more suitable complex. Reflecting on the need for the new construction, the department conveyed in a post that the cost of upgrading the outdated structure would fall short of providing the necessary enhancements.
The placement of the new headquarters is not arbitrary but has been carefully chosen for its strategic advantage, it aims to bolster police presence and service efficiency, particularly with potential hotspots like Grand Park, Westfield High School and nearby commercial zones within close proximity. Forethought into the facility's location underscores the department's commitment to maintaining vigilant and rapid response capabilities within the community.
Completion of the Westfield Police Department’s new base is slated for 2027 and as the structure takes shape, the public can expect to stay informed through updates and video posts shared by the Westfield Police Department through its social platforms. "Make sure to follow our social media channels, as we will be posting future videos as the building progresses," noted the department echoing their commitment to transparency and community engagement throughout the development phase.
