A woman was rushed to a hospital in critical condition Tuesday night after she was shot inside a home on Indianapolis’ northeast side, authorities said. Officers swarmed the scene while detectives launched an investigation and medics moved quickly to get her emergency care.
According to WISH-TV, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to a report of a person shot on Tuesday, and the woman was taken to an area hospital. As detectives processed the home, IMPD told the station there was “no threat to the community.” The department did not immediately release the victim’s name, WISH-TV reported.
Police said a person of interest was taken into custody, though officials had not announced any charges as detectives continued their work, WISH-TV reports. Investigators were canvassing the neighborhood and urging anyone nearby to share video or other details that might help piece together what happened inside the home.
