A robbery on a Central City street corner ended with a man shot Saturday, according to New Orleans police, who say the victim was found at the intersection of Willow and Philip streets. New Orleans EMS took him to a hospital for treatment.
Police Response
The New Orleans Police Department told WDSU that officers were called to a reported shooting at Willow and Philip, where they found a man with a gunshot wound. The victim told officers he had been robbed. Police have not released information on any suspects, and no further details on the victim's condition were immediately available.
Central City Context
The shooting adds to a run of gun violence in Central City, a neighborhood that has seen several incidents this year. In February, Two Minors Wounded reported on another nearby shooting that left young people hurt and neighbors calling for more resources and faster investigative follow-up.
