Philz Coffee is lining up a new Concord cafe at the Willows Shopping Center, giving East Bay caffeine hunters another reason to make the Diamond Boulevard run. The opening date remains under wraps, but hiring activity and a live company listing suggest the shop is moving closer to reality.
As first reported by WhatNow, the café is planned for the Willows near Interstate 680, with Philz recruiting baristas after previously seeking a general manager for the store. Philz’s official location page now lists Willows Concord as coming soon, though its hours are still blank and the site does not provide a debut date.
What Concord Customers Can Expect
Philz is known for customized, made-to-order coffee blends rather than a one-size-fits-all caffeine conveyor belt. The company says its beans are sustainably sourced and roasted at its Oakland facility, while its menu includes signature drinks such as the Mint Mojito, according to the brand’s official company story and current drink menu.
The Willows Is Getting A Broader Food And Retail Refresh
Philz will join a larger redevelopment at the shopping center, where Building C is being remade into roughly 14,000 square feet of new retail and restaurant space. The Willows Shopping Center says new tenants are opening on a rolling basis and that all eight are anticipated to be open by the end of August, with a formal Building C celebration planned for September 24.
The incoming lineup also includes Mendocino Farms, California Fish Grill and Cold Stone Creamery, according to WhatNow’s report. That gives the project a decidedly food-forward tilt: Concord residents may soon be able to pair a Philz coffee run with lunch, dinner or an ice cream detour without leaving the center.
The Concord project comes as Philz continues adding locations around California. Hoodline reported that the chain’s Elk Grove café opened July 8 as Philz’s 83rd location, making the still-undated Concord shop part of a broader expansion push rather than a one-off suburban experiment.
