Fog First, Then Scattered Storms
A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through 9 a.m. for Indianapolis and parts of central Indiana, with visibility potentially falling to one-quarter mile in the thickest pockets. The National Weather Service in Indianapolis advises drivers to slow down, use headlights and leave extra distance.
Friday afternoon will be partly sunny but muggy, with a high near 85 and a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. South-southwest winds will stay light at 1 to 8 mph, and downpours could drop roughly a tenth to a quarter inch of rain in a short time.
Saturday Looks Better For Outdoor Plans
Saturday starts mostly sunny and reaches about 86 degrees, with only a 20% chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Saturday night should turn partly cloudy and cooler, with a low around 67 and only a slight shower chance before 7 p.m.
Sunday Starts The Next Round
Sunday gets hotter, topping out near 88, but scattered showers are possible from roughly 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by isolated afternoon storms. Sunday night stays unsettled, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible and a low near 71.
Storm Chances Increase Next Week
Monday could reach 90 with a few early showers, then mostly sunny skies; southwest wind gusts may reach 21 mph. Tuesday stays warm near 87 with a 40% storm chance, but the forecast turns wetter Tuesday night into Wednesday, when rain and thunderstorms are likely and the chance of precipitation rises to 70%.
Thursday remains cooler near 81 with another chance of showers and thunderstorms. Forecasters say repeated downpours could create ponding or localized flooding in low-lying areas, and an isolated strong or severe storm cannot be ruled out, especially from Saturday night through Monday night.
