Windsor Park is getting a serious after-dark upgrade: Orem says 12 new sports-lighting poles are helping keep games and other athletic use going after sunset. The project gives one of the city's north-end recreation spots more usable evening hours, rather than a place where the lights — and the fun — have to clock out at dusk.

The City of Orem said in a Facebook reel on Tuesday that the new poles are intended to allow residents to use sports facilities after sunset, bringing additional light to Windsor Park and the surrounding Orem community.

Lighting planned for several Windsor sports areas

The work has been moving through the city's 2026 project pipeline. A project notice for Orem's Windsor Sports Lighting Project describes a fully operational lighting system for a softball field, pickleball courts, and a multi-sport court, suggesting the upgrade is intended for more than one type of evening play, according to GovernmentContracts.

Windsor Park already has a broad mix of amenities, including soccer and baseball fields, three lighted tennis courts, a walking path, playground and basketball court, according to the City of Orem's park page. Orem Recreation also lists two softball fields and three tennis courts at Windsor, with athletic rentals requiring a completed agreement, insurance and payment; its current fee schedule lists field lighting at $25 per hour per field, as outlined by Orem Recreation.

The new project also tracks with broader feedback about Orem's parks. In a city parks survey, residents frequently identified lighting and safety features, paths, and restrooms as improvement priorities across the park system, with Windsor Park appearing among the locations where paths and restrooms were cited, according to a City of Orem survey report.
