Southwest winds will run 1 to 10 mph this afternoon, with gusts as high as 18 mph. The chance of rain is only about 20% during the day, so outdoor plans may work out, but anyone staying out into the evening should keep an eye on changing skies.
Storm Chances Increase After Midnight
Sunday night will turn mostly cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms becoming more likely after midnight. The low should settle near 73 degrees, although temperatures may rise slightly overnight as southerly winds continue.
Monday brings another hot afternoon near 91 degrees, followed by a higher chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday night. Storms could bring heavy rain, damaging wind gusts and localized flooding, with the rain chance rising to 60% Monday night.
Repeated Storms Could Soak Central Indiana
Showers and thunderstorms are likely at times Tuesday and Wednesday, even as highs ease from around 89 degrees Tuesday to about 86 Wednesday. The National Weather Service is warning that multiple rounds of storms could produce heavy rainfall, damaging winds and a flash-flooding threat through Wednesday night.
Rain chances remain in the forecast Thursday through Saturday, but temperatures should moderate significantly. Highs are expected to fall into the low 80s Thursday and Friday before settling near 80 Saturday, with overnight lows dropping into the 60s.
No watches or warnings are listed for Indianapolis as of Sunday morning, but conditions could change quickly once storms develop. Stay hydrated during the hottest part of the day, move indoors when thunder is heard and avoid driving through water covering a roadway.
