Riverton City Park is filling up every Friday night this August with free yoga, food trucks, live music, and outdoor movies as the city's popular Friday Fun Nights series returns for another summer run. The first installment kicked off this past Friday, August 7, running from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the series continues weekly through the end of the month.
According to Riverton, Utah - City Government, the August 7 kickoff featured free yoga from 5:30 to 6 p.m., food trucks and Good4Life Markets vendors running from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., live music from Sean's Garage between 7 and 9 p.m., and a dusk screening of Zootopia 2 in the park. Beyond that opening night, the full August calendar shows the series playing out every Friday — August 14, 21, and 28 — from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Riverton City Park, according to Riverton City Government.
A Full Month of Music and Movies
The live music lineup keeps rolling after Sean's Garage, with Relativity taking the stage on August 14, followed by Truman Brothers and Music City Groove on August 21, and Changing Lanes Band closing out the series on August 28, per the same city schedule. On the movie side, Zootopia 2 gives way to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on August 14 and Wicked: For Good on August 28, while August 21 swaps the film for an outdoor Teen Barn Dance instead.
All of it plays out at Riverton City Park, the city's 31-acre flagship park at 1452 W 12600 S that reopened in 2015 after major renovations. The park now includes three playgrounds, eight pickleball courts, two tennis courts, a splash pad running until 8 p.m., and the historic Old Dome Meeting Hall, according to Riverton City Government.
Vendors and a City Partnership Behind the Scenes
The food trucks and market booths aren't run by the city alone. Good4Life Markets serves as the official organizing partner for Friday Fun Nights, handling vendor applications and coordinating the food trucks and handcrafted artisan booths that show up each week, according to a listing on Marketspread. Performers who want to play the park have to clear a vetting process first: city rules require them to submit prior live performance video recordings for review, and performers are barred from verbally soliciting money from attendees on-site, per Riverton City Government.
The series itself is a relatively recent evolution of an older city tradition. Riverton previously ran standalone Concerts in the Park events before folding that summer concert program into the unified Friday Fun Nights format, blending live music with food trucks and local vendors under one weekly banner, Riverton City Government notes.
Tied to the City's America 250 Celebration
This year, Friday Fun Nights also does double duty as an official stamp location for Riverton's America 250 Passport to Freedom initiative, a program running through October 31 that invites youth under 18 to collect stamps at eight local events in exchange for a limited-edition anniversary medal marking the nation's 250th birthday. The season's final Friday Fun Night on August 28 will be especially packed, coinciding with a Patriotic Chalk Art Festival running from noon to 7 p.m. and a Children's Entrepreneur Market, both also held at Riverton City Park.
The programming reflects Riverton's broader push toward suburban community-building.
