Northbound Interstate 15 near Woods Cross was shut down Saturday after a fatal crash, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. Drivers heading north were being ordered off the freeway at 2600 South, with UDOT directing traffic back onto I-15 further north at 500 South once past the closure.
UDOT announced the closure in a social media post Saturday, and FOX 13 News Utah reported that UDOT was recommending drivers take I-215 west to Legacy Highway as an alternate route while the freeway remained shut down. FOX 13 said it would continue providing updates as more information became available.

The corridor through Davis County near Woods Cross has long been flagged as a collision hotspot outside Salt Lake County, according to analysis from Utah Law Pro, which notes the corridor mixes heavy commuter traffic with commercial freight trucks as a key north-south link between Weber and Salt Lake counties. Those conditions can compound quickly when lanes get closed for an incident like Saturday's crash.
The 2600 South interchange itself underwent a full redesign completed in 2015 after historical data showed an average of 27 crashes annually on 2600 South and 20 more on nearby ramps, according to trade publication Roads & Bridges, which noted the interchange was engineered specifically to handle heavy commercial truck traffic. Legacy Parkway was among the alternate routes UDOT pointed drivers toward.
