A shopping plaza anchor that sat dark for years in Geist has a new life as a 55,000-square-foot indoor playground built around 16 waterless slides. Slick City Action Park opened its newest location at 11621 Fox Road, transforming a long-empty Marsh Supermarket building into what the company describes as the largest Slick City venue in Indiana.
The building had been vacant since Marsh Supermarkets declared bankruptcy in 2017, with only a brief stint from Needler's Fresh Market keeping the lights on until 2019, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal. Franchisee Eddie Wilson plans to open locations at both the former Marsh site at 11625 Fox Road and a second location at 2904 S. State Road 135 in Greenwood, the paper reports. As reported by WISH-TV, the Geist venue accommodates more than 1,000 guests year-round and bills itself as the world's first indoor dry-slide and air-court park.
What's Inside the Geist Location
Beyond the 16 proprietary dry slides, the Geist park includes a 100-seat arcade, four sport courts including two for basketball, and air courts designed for cushioned landings, per WISH-TV's report. The facility also houses the Hyper Grid interactive arena, which the outlet notes is the only arena of its kind in Indiana, alongside dodgeball facilities and a dedicated kids' zone for children ages 5 and under. The Indianapolis Business Journal separately reported a planned 58,000-square-foot Geist location with approximately 17 slides.
Eddie Wilson told WISH-TV that the goal for the venue is “pure joy,” adding that the park is meant to bring something new to the Geist community. The station reports that the location has already begun booking birthday parties, and it hosts team celebrations, corporate events and school outings in addition to offering single-day tickets and memberships.
A National Chain Built on Patented Slides
Slick City Action Park was co-founded in 2021 by CEO Bron Launsby, a former multi-unit Sky Zone trampoline park franchisee, alongside Gary Schmit, founder and CEO of slide manufacturer Slick Slide, according to KSDK-TV. The company and Slick Slide hold or have filed 63 patents covering the proprietary dry slides and specialized sliding mats that let riders reach waterslide speeds without any water at all, Hoodline previously reported.
Nationwide, roughly 20% of paying Slick City guests are adults ages 18 and older. The company offers adults-only programming and corporate group outings. In August 2026, private investment firm Endeavour acquired a strategic minority stake in Slick City Franchise Group LLC and Slick Slide LLC, aiming to fuel nationwide expansion past 150 open or planned locations.
Turning Empty Big Boxes Into Family Entertainment
The Geist opening fits a broader real estate pattern for the chain, which has used vacant big-box retail shells. Slick City has used that same playbook in other markets, including a former big-box space along Braker Lane in Austin.
Indiana Code Chapter 22-15-7 includes inspection provisions for regulated indoor amusement devices. At the Geist facility, all guests are required to sign safety waivers and wear grip socks, and dry slides are restricted to guests ages 4 and older, with a dedicated Junior Jungle area set aside for kids 5 and under, according to a video posted to Facebook.
