Operations and capitalization
Nola Bank is operating from a temporary facility at 1100 S. Carrollton Ave. in New Orleans while construction continues on a permanent location at the same site, according to Biz New Orleans. The full-service bank serves individuals, families and businesses in Greater New Orleans, with lending, consumer and commercial deposit accounts, treasury management, and online and mobile banking. Investors supplied $29.2 million in opening capital, the publication reported.
Biz New Orleans also reported that the opening marks the first new Louisiana bank charter in 16 years. That claim, along with the bank’s operating details and capitalization, comes from the publication’s account of the launch.
Local leadership
Joe Omner is Nola Bank’s president and chief executive officer, while Henry L. Coaxum Jr. chairs its board, according to Biz New Orleans. The publication characterized the leadership group as having more than 200 years of combined community-banking experience across commercial lending, credit, operations, technology, compliance and treasury management.
Coaxum is president of Coaxum Enterprises, which operates three New Orleans McDonald’s franchises, and an equity partner in the Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences development, according to the Louisiana Restaurant Association.
Minority Depository Institution plans
Nola Bank plans to seek Minority Depository Institution designation after completing the applicable regulatory process, Biz New Orleans reported. The FDIC says an institution may qualify when at least 51% of its voting stock is owned by minority individuals. It also recognizes institutions whose boards are majority-minority and that serve predominantly minority communities.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency revised its MDI policy statement in June 2026. The change was described as bringing the policy more closely into line with FIRREA standards for national banks and federal stock savings associations, according to InfoBytes.
