Recent Pattern of Gun Violence Investigations
This is not the first gunfire case the department's Major Investigations Division has handled in recent months. In August, detectives investigated a non-fatal shooting after an adult male was shot during an online sale meetup turned violent on South Liberty Street, a case that was logged under a separate EPD case number. The department has also promoted safer alternatives for in-person transactions, including Internet Exchange Locations at its headquarters at 151 Douglas Avenue, with a 24-hour monitored station-lobby space and a video-surveilled designated parking spot.
No charges have been announced in connection with Friday's shooting.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Elgin Police Department, located at 151 Douglas Ave., or call the department's non-emergency line at 847-289-2700.
