Anthony J. Strahl, listed as 45 in the sentencing report, pleaded guilty to two felony charges in Hancock Circuit Court and received consecutive jail terms. The plea agreement dismissed six of the eight original charges against him.
The convictions were for Level 6 felony possession of child pornography and Level 6 felony bestiality, according to The Daily Reporter. The bestiality sentence is 910 days, with 302 days to be served and 608 suspended to sex-offender-specific probation. The child pornography sentence is also 910 days, with 608 days to be served and 302 suspended. The terms must be served consecutively.
Probation and Additional Conditions
Strahl must register as a sex offender for 10 years, the newspaper reported. He is also prohibited from owning an animal or pet for the duration of his sentence.
The sentencing report listed Strahl as 45. The Daily Reporter’s earlier coverage identified him as 43 when he was charged in January 2025.
How the Investigation Began
The Daily Reporter said the investigation involved a Greenfield police detective who also works with the Hamilton County Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Strahl and two women were charged with sex offenses in January 2025 following the investigation.
Indiana ICAC Activity in 2025
According to Star City TV, Indiana State Police reported that, with help from the ICAC task force, the agency received 29,635 cyber tips, conducted 3,164 investigations and made 499 arrests in 2025. These are statewide figures for that year; they do not describe Strahl’s case.
Two Related Hancock County Cases
Stephanie R. Reeves of Fountaintown, one of the women charged alongside Strahl, faces 28 felony counts and is scheduled for a jury trial in Hancock Circuit Court on December 15, 2026, according to the newspaper. Reeves told police the incidents she described occurred from 2021 to 2023; court records cited in the report describe a broader pattern involving Strahl, Reeves and the third defendant from 2021 through 2024.
The other woman, April L. Brown, faced six Level 6 felony bestiality counts. Her case was resolved in March 2025 in Hancock Superior Court 2: Brown pleaded guilty to Counts I, IV and VI, and the other three charges were dismissed. She received a 910-day term, with 112 days of jail credit and 545 days suspended to probation, the newspaper reported.
Investigation Timeline
The Daily Reporter reported that a cyber tip in March 2024 led investigators to an account traced to Reeves and that officers later executed a search warrant at a Fountaintown address.
Indiana’s special probation conditions for adult sex offenders describe types of conditions that may apply. The Daily Reporter reported that Strahl’s sentence prohibits him from owning an animal or pet for its duration. Reeves’s December trial date means a related case remains pending in Hancock County even though Strahl’s case has concluded.
