Chicago woke Wednesday under gray skies and low-60s temperatures, with scattered showers fading into patchy drizzle as a cold front sends readings steadily lower through the afternoon. The rain is not expected to be a washout, but showers and drizzle could still make the commute less pleasant.
According to the National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville, Wednesday’s high should reach the upper 50s to low 60s before temperatures slide toward the upper 50s later in the day. South-southwest winds around 15 mph may gust to 25 mph, while scattered showers are most likely early, followed by drizzle and isolated showers.
A Wetter, Cooler Turn Through Friday
Thursday brings partly sunny skies and a high near 58, with a chance of showers returning Thursday night and temperatures dropping to around 43. Friday stays cool and unsettled, with a chance of showers and a high near 54 under mostly cloudy skies.
The weather service is also watching for freezing temperatures in parts of the Chicago area late Friday night into early Saturday, although conditions near Lake Michigan could stay milder. Lakefront boaters should also note that a Small Craft Advisory is posted through early Wednesday.
Sunshine Finally Shows Up This Weekend
The forecast turns quieter but stays cool Saturday, with lingering shower chances and a high near 53. Sunday looks sunny and slightly warmer near 55, with highs edging up to the upper 50s Monday and Tuesday.
The clearer weekend outlook is a meaningful update to the unsettled pattern described in an earlier Hoodline forecast. For now, Chicago gets one more stretch of wind, clouds and rain before the sun makes a much more convincing return.
