The local roaster's CEO said the move will allow the company “to flourish for many years to come.”

“As long as the rent doesn't double or triple, then I can stay,” said owner Teena Johnson.

The shop carries a wide range of beer and sake, as well as kitchen items, barware and other goods from Japan.

After crime and displacement left Yong Soo Jung without a business or a savings, neighbors came together.

The local brewers are moving into a larger space at 21st & Adeline.

"People get into their routines and they don’t walk around and see who’s here," said Laurel Book Store owner Luan Strauss.

The company's founder hopes to use shipping containers to address Oakland's affordable housing shortage.
