One man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting that took place in the Mission district on Saturday night, police have reported.

Officers reportedly heard gunfire and responded to the 2100 block of Mission at 17th Street around 8:22 p.m., where they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds.

The first victim, a 30-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries, but two men, both aged 20, were transported to a hospital, one with life-threatening injuries, according to ABC7.

Police blocked off the area as they investigated the scene and interviewed witnesses, but no suspects were arrested.

The area has seen a string of violent crimes in recent months — on June 14, an unknown suspect shot a man in a dispute on the 2000 block, and in April, two men suffered life-threatening stab wounds on the 2100 block in separate incidents over a single weekend.

Anyone who has information about Saturday's incident is encouraged to contact SFPD via the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.

Here’s why we usually don’t include suspect descriptions in crime reports.
