We all knew that the Stacks space (501 Hayes St.) at the corner of Octavia and Hayes likely wouldn't stay empty for long, and as the pandemic wanes we learn that the owners of Cow Hollow's The Brixton (2140 Union St.) are set to open a new location — their third — there in the coming months.

Tablehopper was the first to catch the news via a liquor license transfer, and with that application going in, we are probably looking at a fall or winter opening, though the owners have not been reached for comment.

Stacks closed with everything else at the start of the pandemic, and it became clear by last June that the place likely wasn't ever going to reopen. Known for its brunches and comfort food, the Hayes Valley location dates back to 2007, and it was a third location opened by friends Geoffrey Swenson and Tom Duffy. The original location in Burlingame remains open, and was open during the pandemic, and a second location in Menlo Park remains open as well.

The Brixton opened on Union Street in 2010, bringing a posh, London-inspired vibe with cocktails, a popular brunch menu, and an all-day menu of tacos and other bites. A second location debuted in 2019 near Oracle Park, on Second Street near Townsend, and it remains temporarily closed.

Hayes Valley has been quite hopping since all its parklets were installed, despite a number of retail vacancies. But here's at least one space that won't be staying dark for long.
