The late Julia Reagan, whose face once graced billboards throughout Salt Lake City as a tribute to her life, is now at the center of a wrongful death lawsuit filed by her husband, William Reagan. The matriarch of a Utah outdoor advertising company passed away at the age of 81 at the University of Utah Hospital. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, the lawsuit alleges hospital negligence.
William Reagan turned to the courts seeking damages for what he believed was a preventable death. As per ABC4, the legal action came after Julia Reagan died following complications that her husband contends could have been managed. Grappling with grief, her husband has chosen to honor her not only on billboards but within the justice system, claiming she could have survived with proper medical care.
The case hinges on an autopsy report which indicates that the cause of death was due to vomiting caused by a bowel obstruction from "extensive abdominal adhesions." This medical insight was shared by KSLTV, highlighting the basis on which the wrongful death claim rests. The University of Utah Hospital has not yet issued a detailed response to the lawsuit, but they have made their position clear regarding patient care being a priority.
