Heber City Police reported sighting of the bear near Wingpointe Apartments' pool area. The animal's journey did not stop there; it was seen crossing Highway 40, dangerously close to the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office and Heber Valley Hospital, before making an appearance at a local gas station and the Royal Coachman, according to FOX 13.
Despite the potential for conflict in these densely human-populated areas, the bear managed to avoid coming into direct contact with residents. The sighting near the highway and the ensuing activities were reported on the Heber City Police's official Facebook page, with a note indicating that the "brown bear fled across Hwy 40 toward the Sheriff’s Office and ER," as highlighted by ABC4. Soon after, the bear found itself near a gas station and then a mobile home park, an uncommon path for wild fauna in urban settings.
The intervention to ensure the safety of both the bear and community members involved coordinated efforts. Police, alongside Utah Division of Wildlife Resources officials, were swift in acting, successfully guiding the bear up into the branches of an accommodating tree.
