In a concerning development, the South Jordan Police Department has once again reported 15-year-old Alisa Petrov missing. Last seen on Saturday around 3 p.m. near 200 East and 10600 South, the teen's disappearance comes just over a month after she was found in Colorado following a previous missing persons case. As reported by KUTV, Petrov turned herself in to a Colorado police department in June after vanishing in late April.
Petrov was described as having brown eyes and blonde hair, last spotted wearing a yellow shirt with a flower pattern. According to authorities, she is known to swiftly make decisions that involve hitchhiking and asking for rides. "Last time [Petrov] ran away, [she] hitched rides from [vehicles] and semi's out of state," South Jordan Police remarked, as obtained by KUTV.
The incident has also been highlighted by the Department of Public Safety, adding to the gravity of the situation. In a statement, they shed light on the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, stating that Petrov fled on foot and emphasized her tendency to hitchhike. Her last known location was recorded in Sandy, further broadening the search area. To aid the ongoing investigation, Sandy Police disclosed that Petrov was visiting a family member when she went missing, as per KSLTV.
Following the announcement of her disappearance, the Utah Department of Public Safety quickly issued an "Endangered Missing Advisory" for the teen. However, as shared by FOX13, the advisory was canceled post 10:30 p.m. after Petrov was found. Details surrounding her recovery have not yet been disclosed. In the interim, South Jordan PD has maintained that there was no reason to believe that she intended to meet somebody.
