Search efforts are currently underway for a 41-year-old Davis County man who disappeared in Willard Bay State Park after a recreational outing turned precarious. According to ABC4, the man fell from an inflatable raft on Saturday afternoon, prompting an extensive search operation. The Utah Department of Natural Resources declared the search ongoing for the missing individual, with local authorities, including the Utah DNR Law Enforcement Division and the Willard City Police Department, engaged in search efforts.
The incident was first reported to the authorities around 4:45 p.m., and by evening, as per KSLTV, the man had still not been located. The search is complicated by the fact that neither he nor the other occupant of the raft, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition, was wearing a life jacket when they went into the water. Rescuers from multiple agencies, including the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office, are working together in the search.
Adding to the day's tensions in the area, rescue operations farther north at Garden City were also called into action to respond to a boat fire. As obtained by KSL.com, it is reported that the Garden City Fire District faced significant challenges when a high-pressure hose on their rescue boat blew out, thus limiting their firefighting capabilities. Eventually, they had to push the burning vessel near shore, where it was finally extinguished by a waiting fire engine. Thankfully, no injuries occurred from the boat fire, though the boat was deemed a complete loss.
