Weeks before the April 30 relocation deadline between Castro Coffee Company, Castro Nail Salon, and their landlord, it was extended another month until May 31.
The extension comes as Castro Nail Salon has pivoted to a new location after its first choice fell through, and Castro Coffee Company continues construction at its new location a few doors up the street.
The two businesses have been negotiating with the Nasser Family, who own The Castro Theatre, which includes the two storefronts.
Brothers Ken Khoury and Riyad Khoury, who own Castro Coffee and Castro Nail, respectively, had sought to remain in their current locations and enlisted the help of Mayor Daniel Lurie. However, Another Planet Entertainment (APE) intends to open a box office in one of the spaces for the recently reopened Castro Theatre.

Khoury confirmed the deadline extension for both storefronts, as Castro Coffee Company has begun remodeling its new location at 421 Castro Street. Lisa Hair Design has already relocated to 415 Castro Street, formerly Double Rainbow.
The third piece in this puzzle, Castro Nail Salon, has encountered the most challenges in finding a new location.
Initially, the nail salon was set to move to 548 Castro Street, formerly the plant shop How's It Hanging. However, negotiations hit a stalemate between Khoury and the real estate agent.
Now Khoury tells Hoodline that they have found a new location. Castro Nail Salon will relocate to 4359 18th St. (at Eureka), formerly Big Cleaners. Big Cleaners closed in August 2020.

"After nearly fifteen months since learning we would lose our lease at the Castro Theatre, we’re thrilled to announce that Castro Nail Salon has found a new home," said Khoury.
"Our new location is currently undergoing renovations, and we will share updates as we progress," added Khoury. Public records indicate no construction permits have been filed at 4359 18th Street.
Until that time, Castro Nail Salon will continue to operate at its current location. Khoury says their deadline to move out has been extended through May, "or earlier if renovations are completed sooner."

"We are deeply grateful to Mayor Daniel Lurie, his staff, Supervisor Rafael Mandelman and his staff, to our loyal customers, the Castro community, the stakeholders, and everyone who stood by us throughout this journey," Khoury said. "We look forward to this new chapter in the neighborhood we proudly call home."
