Here's a brief roundup of recent changes to Castro area businesses. In this edition, a plant shop shutters, a small group fitness studio expands, and a restaurant adjusts its hours.

How's It Hanging (548 Castro)

Castro plant shop How's It Hanging has closed after three years in the Castro.

How's It Hanging opened in 2022 in the former Blumen and Whatever Store comic book shop space.

Originally opened by James Belisle, the shop was sold last August to Hector Barajas.

Barajas tells Hoodline that multiple factors contributed to the shop's closure, including that he's moving to Puerto Vallarta in July.

According to Barajas, a few business owners have expressed interest in taking over the space.

Body SF (2275 Market)

Small group fitness studio Body SF has expanded to a larger storefront at 2275 Market St.

Body has taken over the space previously occupied by Trudy's Tattoo Parlor. Trudy's (formerly Bulldog Tattoo) closed in 2022 after 13 years in the Castro.

Owner Daivya Allmond tells Hoodline they'll be hosting a grand opening on July 12.

Body offers a variety of small group fitness classes, outdoor bootcamps, and personal training sessions.

For the past two years, Body has operated out of a smaller space in the back of the shopping center. Allmond tells Hoodline that she has not decided whether to keep both spaces.

Both spaces, along with two others, were previously occupied by Books Inc.

Allmond is currently remodeling the former tattoo parlor space, including fresh paint, fixtures, workout equipment, and touching up the entryway inlaid with pennies.

Fisch & Flore (2298 Market)

Castro seafood restaurant Fisch & Flore has adjusted its hours.

In May, Fisch & Flore expanded its hours. The restaurant is now open from Wednesday to Sunday.

Before that, the restaurant had only been open Friday to Sunday.

As Hoodline previously reported, the restaurant was listed for sale earlier this year. According to listing agent Steven Gerry, the price has been dropped from $795,000 to $345,000.

Previously, Fisch & Flore owner Serhat Zorlu told Hoodline, "I'm looking for a buyer or an investor."
