Originally set to become a private events space, the 47-year-old Castro mainstay is now shifting back into cafe mode.

"It has been like the Castro’s own version of 'Cheers,' and we loved being your bartenders," said owner Phillip Rennick.

In recent weeks, there have been several reports of overnight home burglaries in the area.

With many murals already completed, more are on the way.

While many neighborhoods have embraced the "smart" Bigbelly cans, the Castro CBD says they haven't proven to be worth the cost.
