As 2025 comes to a close, here's a brief roundup of recent changes to Castro area businesses. In this edition, a cafe prepares to open, a Thai spa opens, a barbershop moves, and a former coffee shop hits the market.

Gada Fine Cafe (2375 Market Street)

Gada Fine Cafe will open soon at 2375 Market Street, formerly Chadwick's.

Work inside the tiny retail space has been ongoing for months, but it wasn't until recently that we learned what the new concept was.

Gada Fine Cafe will offer crêpes, waffles, sandwiches, pastries, and the Swiss/French cheese dish raclette.

Hoodline readers will recall Chadwick's closed last year after nearly three years in the Castro.

The retail space is located on the ground floor of the two-story building that also includes Castro nightclub The Café (2369 Market).

Thyme Thai Spa (4141 18th Street)

Thyme Thai Spa is now open at 4141 18th Street, formerly Does Your Mother Know.

As Hoodline first reported in June, Thyme Thai Spa took over the space after Does Your Mother Know moved to 450 Castro Street.

Over the past few months, Thyme Thai Spa fully remodeled the space by building therapy rooms and a reception desk, installing new plumbing for an ADA-compliant bathroom, replacing the furnace and ducts, upgrading fixtures and finishes, and making electrical improvements throughout the space. Construction costs were estimated at $200,000.

During its soft-opening period, Thyme Thai Spa is offering 20% off all services. Thyme Thai Spa offers a variety of body polishes, treatments, and massages.

Thyme Thai Spa is open daily from 10 am to 9 pm.

Healing Cuts (2350 Market Street)

Castro barbershop Healing Cuts has moved next door and combined with the day spa Taboo at 2352 Market Street.

Owner Ismael De Luna, who owns both Healing Cuts and Taboo, tells Hoodline he decided after Healing Cuts' lease expired.

Healing Cuts opened at the former Streetlight Records space in 2020, and Taboo opened in the former consignment shop Worn Out West space last year.

At this time, a new tenant for Healing Cuts' former space has not been announced.

Starbucks (4094 18th Street)

The former home of the Castro Starbucks has now been listed for rent.

Starbucks closed in September after 30 years in the Castro.

The space is currently listed by Maven Properties and is available starting April 2026.

The former Starbucks coffee bar space has since been removed, and any new tenant will need to remodel the space before opening.

It seems unlikely that this space will sit vacant for long. Hoodline has already been contacted by one anonymous Castro business owner who was interested in leasing the space.
