Castro residents and visitors looking for a place to relax and be pampered now have another option.
Day Spa Taboo SF opened over the weekend at 2352 Market Street, formerly consignment shop Worn Out West.
Worn Out West closed in 2018 after over four decades in the Castro. Since then, the space has mostly sat vacant and occasionally used as an art pop-up.
Taboo SF is owned by Ismael De Luna who owns barbershop Healing Cuts next door.
Taboo SF is now open at 2352 Market Street
"Opening today makes me feel a sense of accomplishment," De Luna tells Hoodline. "I'm excited to be able to offer jobs to other people in the community, especially LGBTQ+ people."
According to its website, Taboo offers customers "a comprehensive range of treatments designed to pamper and rejuvenate."
Services include haircuts, pedicures and manicures, laser hair removal, therapeutic massages, and revitalizing facials.
"Taboo SF blends skillful craftsmanship with an exclusive atmosphere," Taboo's website explains. "Taboo SF is your ultimate destination for wellness, relaxation, and the epitome of self-care."

After months of delay, De Luna hosted a grand opening party on Saturday attended by Mayor London Breed and District 8 Supervisor Rafael Mandelman.
Public records indicate a building permit was issued in August for new finishes, equipment, and furniture. Construction costs are estimated at $37,500.
"So happy to see Healing Cuts opening a second Castro business, Taboo," said Mandelman. "SF City government can be pretty hard on small businesses in any number of ways. Glad we were able to be helpful with this one."
Taboo is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Taboo's opening fills one of a dwindling number of storefront vacancies along the 2300 block of Market Street between Castro and Noe streets.

Earlier this month, dog walking business Sniff and Go opened above fitness studio MX3 Fitness.
Men's clothing store Entour, Amazon-owned medical office One Medical, and Mexican restaurant Zona Rosa opened in the past year.
The block currently has three vacancies: the spaces formerly occupied by Wells Fargo (2308 Market), the former Bisou (2367 Market), and the former Pottery Barn (2390 Market) all remain vacant.
