It's a sad day for fans of Castro/Duboce Triangle dive Lucky 13 (2140 Market St.), which is giving up the ghost after five years of limbo with the property slated for development. 

In some rare good news about an upcoming restaurant opening the Castro, Hoodline has learned that Santería, a new Mexican restaurant and cocktail bar, is headed to the former Finn Town Tavern space at 2251 Market Street.

The scoop shop returns to a space just two doors down from where Double Rainbow launched its brand in the 1970s.

French bistro and wine bar Aquitaine has opened at 216 Church St. after a months-long delay due to shelter-in-place restrictions. Aquitaine's first day of business was on Election Day Tuesday, November 3.

"We made the tough decision to shift The Detour into hibernation mode for the next few months until a vaccine is released," said co-owner Shawn Vergara.

Castro's Bank of America is currently undergoing a $1.3 million renovation.

The closure comes as Mayor London Breed announced that restaurants can reopen indoors with limited capacity

A popular Castro coffee shop has also temporarily closed, with its return date unclear.

The German-inspired café's last day will be August 14.

Outdoor seating has been a lifeline for restaurants that didn't previously have it. But keeping customers in line hasn't been easy.

The Latin eatery had just marked its 20th anniversary on Cinco de Mayo.

"It's very upsetting," said Chapman, whose family owned the diner for 68 years. "I didn't plan this kind of closure."

Founded in the Castro in 1976, the famed Bay Area ice cream brand is opening a new scoop shop in the neighborhood.
