San Francisco will soon be getting a double scoop of Angela's Organic Ice Cream, with a shop already open in Noe Valley, and one coming to the Castro.

A chef who made a name for herself a decade ago by hosting dinners inside her apartment in San Francisco featuring the Malaysian noodle dish laska, a spicy noodle soup, has turned her hit pop-up business into a brick-and-mortar restaurant.

The Malaysian cuisine of Mahila will be reborn as Azalina’s, in the conspicuously-muraled Aviary building at Ellis and Leavenworth Street in September.

The late pandemic is bringing one closure and one ownership change to the Noe Valley dining scene.

Sad closure news came this week out of Noe Valley, where local chef and food entrepreneur Azalina Eusope's first brick-and-mortar Malaysian restaurant, Mahila (1320 Castro Street), has permanently closed after just 21 months.

Mr. Digby's, a casual restaurant and cocktail spot from a couple with established SF restaurant cred in the former Noe's Cantina space (1199 Church St.), is now aiming for an April opening after being delayed nearly a year by the pandemic.

A new cafe opens in SoMa, a Noe Valley market says farewell for now, and a global bubble tea chain opens two San Francisco locations.

The Divisadero location is temporarily closed, and owners say they're determining their next steps "day by day."

It also appears that Divisadero Street will be getting a new bakery.

The neighborhood eatery was best known for its crêpes and other brunch items, as well as kids' offerings.

Owner Tommy Basso cites high costs, low neighborhood foot traffic, and newer Noe Valley residents who "aren’t spending money but... have a lot of it" as factors in closing his year-old restaurant.
